Welcome From Our Hosts

Welcome to the Biggest Little City! #TLGReno

From the 2019 TLG Conference Steering Committee:

Welcome to the Biggest Little City!

We are so excited to host you in April and show you around our community - nestled against the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains and just over the hill from glorious Lake Tahoe.  You’re going to want to come early, stay late, and bring the family to this conference!  We are organizing some special pre-conference tours (don’t tell anyone yet but, the Tesla Gigafactory and a day at Lake Tahoe are in the works and will of course focus on innovation).

Residents in our region are experiencing unprecedented change.  We are transitioning from a town once known for gambling and for getting a “quickie divorce” to a hub for tech entrepreneurs and companies, pulling coders and data analysts from far more expensive Silicon Valley a mere four hours to our west.  With this growth comes a need for rethinking the way we deliver services, address growth, and plan for infrastructure; it’s an exciting time for local government and a daunting one as well.  Connecting with other leaders and discussing best practices and future innovations is one of the reasons we think the 2019 TLG Conference couldn’t come at a more perfect time for Northern Nevada.

We are anxious to see what dynamic sessions and ground-breaking companies await this year and we promise that the conference festival is one not-to-be-missed.  Here are a few news articles to further elaborate on why you can’t miss visiting us in Reno in April 2019 – see you soon!

Yours in innovation,

Alexis Hill, City of Reno
Marilyn Kramer, Washoe County
Nancy Leuenhagen, Washoe County
Dana Searcy, Washoe County
